Next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the 3rd through 6th grade students will be taking tests in reading, writing and math. These are untimed tests, and it's not uncommon for students to spend quite a bit of time completing them. Because of the tests, students will not have regular homework. Instead, please help your child get plenty of rest, and eat a good breakfast each morning.
Public Speeches
One of the things students may practice next week, time depending, are speeches they will deliver to the class. We will spend some time on Monday choosing a speech to present, as well as discussing what the audience looks for in speech delivery. Speeches may be monologues from larger plays, poems by a favorite author, or even a picture book that has been practiced. Speeches will need to be between 3-5 minutes in length. If your child has a favorite book at home that he/she would like to bring in to use for a speech, please help him/her have it ready on Monday.
Pencils and Glue Sticks
Our class could still really use pencils or glue sticks for our work during the end of the year. If you have any you could send in, they would be greatly appreciated!
Next week:
For the most part, our focus will be on our SBA tests. Time depending, we will also be exploring rocks/minerals and working on practicing speeches.
