I look forward to visiting with you during your child's conference time on either Monday or Tuesday. The conference time will be an opportunity for me to discuss your child's progress, answer questions, and set some goals for your child. Because 4th grade is a time when students begin to take more responsibility for their own work, I highly encourage your child to come with you to the conference. This allows us to get their input on goals, and also helps ensure that we are all working together. I'll see you then!
Fall Festival
Don't forget! The Weller Fall Festival will be tomorrow from 12-3. There will be games and goodies galore. Thanks to all of you who have signed up to help at the booths; that help is greatly appreciated. The 4th grade decided to add two additional booths, to add to the fun of the festival. If you didn't sign up and find yourself with extra time and want to help, feel free to stop by the Cake Walk, Balloon Shaving, Pencil Pull or Sucker Pull and ask if they need help. I look forward to seeing you there.
PS - The Fall Festival will be the only chance to wear a costume to Weller, as we will not be dressing up for Halloween. We will also save our next batch of classroom goodies for our next class party. The students are quickly earning more points toward their class party!
Homework for next week (suggested schedule):
There will not be spelling this week, due to the short week.
Monday - come to conference (if this is your day). There are no points given for this, but it is helpful for students to come.
Tuesday - come to conference (if this is your day). There are no points given for this, but it is helpful for students to come.
Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes, math menu (one activity)
Thursday - Read for 20 minutes, math menu (one activity)
Friday - math menu and reading logs are due. Note: Because of the short week, only 2 math menu activities are required. Students are also required to only read for 40 minutes to receive full credit on their reading log.
Next week:
In reading, we will practice annotating our reading and continue to answer close reading questions.
During math, we will continue to work on multiplication, division and number sentences.
In writing we will continue working on our pumpkin planet stories.
In the afternoon, we will continue to work with US Geography concepts.
