We are back with a bang after our long break, and students have remained busy with their moon journals. Remember, students should be completing one journal entry each night. Because of this, and some feedback I've gotten, I've chosen not to send home math and word study homework while we are working on our moon journals. Enjoy looking at the night sky!
Homework for next week:
Monday - Read for 20 minutes and moon journal entry
Tuesday - Read for 20 minutes and moon journal entry
Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes and moon journal entry
Thursday - Read for 20 minutes and moon journal entry
Friday - Read for 20 minutes and moon journal entry
Multiplication
While there hasn't been math homework, students have still been busy with math in the classroom. We've learned how to use the Partial-Products algorithm, as well as the lattice method for multiplying large numbers. As your child to show you his/her favorite way to multiply.
Next week:
In Reading, we will begin to explore features of non-fiction writing.
In Writing, we will continue to work with poetry and literary devices in our moon journals.
In Math, we will wrap up Unit 5, and begin to work on Unit 6, which deals with long division. The Unit 5 test will be toward the end of next week.
In Science, we will continue our look at the Solar System.
