The class is excited to get our blogging endeavors underway. Students who have turned in the blogging permission form will have the opportunity to join in our conversation about classroom topics. The class blogging page can be found under the Home tab on the class website main page. Students will be bringing home the password so they can access the page. Students are more than welcome to participate in the blog from home, if they are able. As I am moderating all comments, however, please be patient as there may be a short lag time before they are posted on the page. Happy blogging!
Math practice resources
Earlier this week, I shared with students several online math practice resources on the class website. Unfortunately, it seems those resources are hard to find! Those math sites can be found on the class website in the Class Resources area, under Homework Central, at http://wellerrich.weebly.com/class-resources.html. Because of the difficulty students have had finding that page, I think I may rearrange things a bit to make it easier. When I make those changes, I'll let you know.
How You Can Help
This week, we've been working a lot on writing clear topic sentences and 3 or 4 supporting sentences to form a paragraph. If your child has someone he/she could write to, either in a letter or an e-mail, which would allow your child to practice writing paragraphs, your child could benefit from the practice.
Next week:
In Reading, we will be continuing to explore the comprehension strategy "reread" and look at conflict/resolution in stories.
In Writing, students will be writing paragraphs, focusing on clear topic sentences and good detail sentences.
In Math, students will continue to practice math facts, as well as explore multiplication/division.
In Social Studies, students will begin to learn more about the regions of Alaska. If students have pictures or artifacts from another Alaska region they would like to bring in to share, that would be great.
