Your child should have brought home a letter and permission slip explaining our upcoming field trip to Ft. Knox Gold Mine. We will be going on Thursday, May 10th from 9:10 - approximately 1:00. Students will need to have the safety release form signed in order to participate in the field trip. Thanks to those of you who have expressed an interest in being a chaperone. I will draw 3 names on Monday, and send notes home with students so you can plan accordingly.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
SRB Math Books
I am still collecting SRB math books from students, so if your child has a blue and pink hardback Everyday Mathematics book at home, please have him/her bring it in. Thanks for your help with this!
Team Hana Party
We are excited that Hana, one of our classmates who has been gone for several months, will be returning to our classroom. There will be a welcome back party today, April 27th from 4-8 at the Pioneer Park Pavilion to celebrate the family's return.
Next week:
In Reading, students will be exploring tall tales and figurative language. Students will also continue to work on their main idea/detail nonfiction projects.
In Writing, students will look at the features of persuasive writing, and will practice writing a persuasive piece.
In Math, students will take a test over Unit 11 on Monday, April 30. We will then begin Unit 12, which focuses on rates.
In Social Studies, we will continue to work on our Alaska history projects. Students are researching one event, and will create a project convincing others that their event is the most important event in Alaska's history.
