We are well into our Solar System unit, and so far we have explored how gravity affects how objects travel, how objects have mass, and how scales can be used to show relative size. Next week, our focus will be on our corner of the solar system, and the interaction of the sun, moon and Earth. As you are out and about with your child, help him/her note where the moon is, and what it looks like, as this will help us with our discussion in class.
Fractions
We have begun our look at fractions, and as we continue to explore fractions, it would be helpful for students to notice how fractions are used (and are useful) in our everyday lives. If you could point out how you use fractions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Calling all Pencils!
Our class supply of pencils is running low, so if you could send in some additional pencils, it would help us. Thanks for your help!
Next week:
In Reading, we will be exploring fact/opinion and inferences as we read the novel Snow Treasure.
In Math, we will continue to look at fractions and probability.
In Writing, we will continue to explore word choice.
In Science, we will continue to look at the Solar System.
