It was wonderful for students to have the chance to share their accomplishments during our student-led conferences. We know it was a challenge to get here due to the weather. If you were unable to come for your child's conference, your child will bring home his/her portfolio to share with you. If you did not have a chance to meet with Mrs. McClellan and myself, and you would like to, please let us know so we can set a time for us to meet.
Alaska Unit
We are beginning to explore Alaska Native culture groups, and how the people adapt to the environment around them. While the majority of our focus will be on traditional adaptations, we will also discuss our modern adaptations. If your child has any materials related to Alaska Native culture groups, and/or the ways people survive in our environment, he/she is welcome to bring them in to share. If students have something particularly valuable they would like to share, please contact us so we can arrange a time for you to bring it in; we would prefer that students not carry valuables to school. As always, students should be mindful of the school policy against weapons. We look forward to seeing what the students can share with us!
Next week:
In Reading and Writing, students will be exploring poetry and literary devices.
In Math, students will continue to explore area and perimeter in Unit 8.
In Social Studies, students will be learning about the ways Alaska Natives adapted to their environment.
