Over the Thanksgiving Break, students do not have any official homework. They are bringing home the spelling packet for next week, if they wish to work on it early, but the packet will not be due until Friday, December 2nd. Have a wonderful break!
Test retakes
Sometimes students find they didn't do as well on a test as they had hoped. If this happens, they are welcome to practice the problems they missed on the test and then ask to retake the test. All test retakes need to be completed before the last week of the quarter to give me enough time to grade them and put the results in the gradebook. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
How you can help
As we move into our math unit on division, beginning next week, helping your child practice his/her times tables will continue to help your student in the classroom. As always, please let me know if you need flashcards or other practice method ideas.
Next week:
In Reading we will work on using information in the story and what we know to help us draw conclusions.
In Writing, we will continue to focus on word choice in our writing, as well as explore how to punctuate dialogue.
In Math, we will begin Unit 6, which works on long division. Remember, there is a video showing how to use the partial quotients method for division on the class website on the Video Resources page.
In Science, we will continue to look at the Solar System by exploring moon phases. We will also begin to look beyond the Solar System, as we explore stars and light years.
