It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving break is already here. There is no official homework over the holiday weekend, as I want your student to be able to enjoy time with family. If he/she is far behind in astronomy journal entries, this weekend would be a good time to make up those assignments. I've met with students who are behind, and they have written down in their planners the number of entries they should complete.
Spelling and math homework is back!
With the new moon next week, our astronomy journal homework is completed. So, you will find that spelling homework and math homework will resume next week. To ease us back into our spelling work, we will focus this next week on some of the 4th grade "no excuse" words. Students will have a packet to take home on Monday outlining their spelling work for the week. Spelling spiral homework will resume the week after. On Monday, also look for a math menu to come home.
Homework for next week:
Monday - Read for 20 minutes, spelling activity, math menu activity
Tuesday - Read for 20 minutes, spelling activity, math menu activity
Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes, spelling activity, math menu activity
Thursday - Read for 20 minutes, study spelling words, math menu activity
Friday - Reading log due, math menu due, spelling packet due.
Next week:
In reading, students will begin working on a nonfiction book project.
During writing, students will choose a planet to research and compare to Earth. Be ready for lots of interesting facts to be shared at home!
In our math time, we will be working on Unit 5, which deals with multidigit multiplication.
During science time, we will be working on our planet research in preparation for making a probe to go to that planet the following week. We will also look at what causes the seasons, and talk about stars and light years.
