Thank you to the parents who braved the rain and cold to join us at the White Mountain Summit Trail. While the we didn't have quite as much time as we needed up there, and had a bit too much wind and rain, the students came back with memories of a trip to the tundra. We will be taking what we observed and using it to draw conclusions about plant adaptations. Having the extra adults along for the trip helped ensure students were safe and accounted for. Thanks again!
Weller Spirit Fridays
Each Friday is Spirit Day here at Weller, and students are encouraged to wear either a Weller shirt/sweatshirt, or a blue shirt. Show some Weller pride and wear blue on Fridays.
Homework for next week:
Monday - Read for 20 minutes and complete reading log.
Tuesday - Read for 20 minutes and complete reading log.
Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes and complete reading log.
Thursday - Read for 20 minutes and complete reading log.
Friday - Reading logs are due
*Note: Students are asked to read for 80 minutes during the week. Ideally that would be 20 minutes each night Monday through Thursday; however, if a student is busy one night and wants to read more another night, that is fine as well. Students may also do their reading during the weekend if that is more convenient.
Next week:
During our reading time, we will continue to gain stamina by reading to ourselves. We will also continue to look at close reading of nonfiction text.
Our writing time will be spent exploring the rest of the Thinking Maps to help us organize our writing, as well as play around with ways to generate ideas for our writing.
In math, we will continue to look at multiplication properties and patterns.
Our science time will be spent comparing plants across parts of Alaska, including invasive species, as well as briefly looking at insects and their relationship to plants and ourselves.
