In preparation for our parent/teacher/student conferences which will be held in February, students are beginning to compile a portfolio of their work. Most of the work students do in class will be kept in the portfolio until conference time, which gives students many pieces to use for their reflections. You are always welcome to stop by the classroom to peruse your child's work, or you can also send me a note and your child can bring the work home for you to look at. I just ask that the student bring the work back so that he/she has something for the portfolio.
You can also check your child's progress in Powerschool. Once you've created a guardian account, you can see your child's grades and assignments. This is a great way to help your child stay on top of his/her classwork and homework. You should have received information about how to set up a guardian account earlier in the year, but if you need another copy, please contact the Weller office.
Spelling City and Think Central
I know I've already put a plug in for these resources, but I have to do it one more time. I've had many students say these sites have helped them practice the classroom content, and the sites can be an excellent way to support students' learning. You can find direct links to Spelling City and Think Central on the Class Resources page.
Mobile and Tablet Access
Many more students are beginning to access the class website and resources on a mobile device or a tablet computer. Because the Internet can act a bit differently on these devices, please let me know if you find something about the class website that isn't working, or isn't user-friendly. Based on some feedback I received, you can now find easier to click direct links to the Classroom Blog Spot page and the Class Resources page on the class website homepage. I am very interested in making sure the class page is useful no matter how it is accessed, so send me your feedback!
