After our nice winter break, we dove right into a new semester of studies. With the new semester, comes a new routine as we work to cover all of the important topics for 4th grade. In class, students will now be practicing their editing skills with DOL, as well as working on a bit of grammar. This new routine also transfers over to homework, as students will be doing reading, math and a bit of writing throughout the week.
It's Cold Outside
It was easy being spoiled by a rather mild winter, but with the very cold temperatures also comes an important need to have adequate winter gear. It would be helpful if students made sure they wore all of their winter gear in the morning; not only will this allow them to be safe on the playground before entering the school, it will also help them ensure they have everything they need for recess. Thank you for your help.
Homework for this week:

Next week:
We are working to finish our rescue spacecrafts this week, but may have to push it into next week if we need the time. After our spacecrafts, we will begin exploring the Southeastern region of the US.
In math we are working on division. While we've begun by exploring the concept of division as repeated subtraction, look for the traditional algorithm to come home this week.
During our reading time we are honing our vocabulary skills by practicing different strategies for figuring out words we don't know as we read.
