Our class has reached our goal of 50 class points, and we are ready to celebrate our accomplishment. Our class party will be next Friday, October 24 at 1:45. This is a pajama/board game party, so students are welcome to wear school-appropriate pajamas and bring a board game to play with classmates. Students may also bring a small (as large as their forearm or smaller) stuffed animal and a small blanket. Snacks are welcome as well. Family members are invited to join us for the party; simply sign in at the front desk at 1:45 and come up to the classroom. We're looking forward to celebrating our good work!
Parent/Teacher/Student conferences
Conferences are right around the corner, and your child should have brought home a slip last week noting when his/her conference time is. If you have any questions, or need to reschedule, please call the office at 457-1629 or email me at [email protected]. Students are encouraged to come to the conference, as this will be a time for us to discuss progress and set some goals for the next quarter. I look forward to meeting with you all.
Student corner
We are beginning a new feature this week, where two students from the classroom are writing a little bit to put into our class newsletter. Here's this week's feature by Kacy and McKenna:
Winter is here, so bring all of your gear. Students should bring all of their gear including hats, gloves, coats , boots, and snow pants.
Math homework is due on the next day, reading logs are due on Friday, and word work is also due Friday.
We are learning about the Northeast region and we would like students to find things out about the Northeast.
We are put in groups to research about the Northeast, and each group has a different topic.
Homework for next week:
Note: Due to the difficulty in the sort for this week's words, students will be working with the same words next week. A new Word Work at Home sheet will not be due; however, students should be continuing to practice words and sorting at home if needed.
Monday - Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log, math homework.
Tuesday - Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log, math homework.
Wednesday - Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log, math homework.
Thursday - Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log, math homework.
Friday - Reading logs are due.
Next week:
During reading, we will continue our work with main idea and details.
In math, we are embarking on Unit 6. The online math resources, accessed through PowerSchool, include videos that go with each of our lessons. Students are welcome to preview the lessons for the week if they'd like. Our goal is to go through lessons 6.1 through 6.5 next week; however, we may spend an extra day on a topic if needed.
In writing, we will look at how to use a flee map to organize our fiction writing.
During our afternoons, students will continue to work on their Northeast Region Google presentations. Students have been researching their topics and we will move into creating the presentations this next week.
